Alaska among America’s best-run states
According to a survey conducted by business website 24/7WallSt.com, Alaska is the eighth best-run state in the nation. The national survey evaluated hundreds of data sets including statistics on financial health, standard of living and government services to determine how well each state is managed.
The Last Frontier State was lauded for its mining, oil and natural gas output and its state budget surplus. Alaska’s low poverty rate also helped the state rank high.
Overall, North Dakota, Wyoming, Iowa, Nebraska and Utah were ranked as the top five best-run states in the survey, followed by Vermont and Minnesota. South Dakota and Texas rounded out the top 10.
