Tourism boosts economy in Alaska

According to an economic impact report from the Alaska Division of Economic Development, the Alaska tourism industry has become one of the state’s most important economic engines.

The report analyzes how the visitor industry for the 12-month period of October 2012 through September 2013 has impacted the state’s economy.

Tourism in Alaska brings new dollars from outside the state, and it also creates a significant amount of jobs and spending.

Employment through tourism during the past year estimated at 39,000 full- and part-time jobs.
